2014 Natalie Miller Fellowship recipient is REBECCA HAMMOND
Ms Hammond received the award on Tuesday 18th November, when it was presented to her by filmmaker, philanthropist and Ambassador for the Fellowship Kerry Gardner, at the annual Screen Producers Australia Awards as part of their SCREEN FOREVER Conference in Melbourne.
Founded in 2011 the Natalie Miller Fellowship (NMF) was created to recognise and nurture the future executive leaders of Australia’s screen industry. The fellowship awards a grant of up to $10,000 to a woman who has demonstrated initiative, entrepreneurship and excellence in their profession.
Rebecca Hammond is a Senior Account Manager for local creative and technical services company Deluxe Australia. Since joining Deluxe 17 years ago, Rebecca has transitioned from administration to post production and now works in client services. Working with some of the screen sectors most entrepreneurial and distinguished professionals, Rebecca has extensive knowledge across film and television from production to distribution.
On receiving the news of her successful grant Rebecca said,
“The Natalie Miller Fellowship has been a source of personal inspiration and I am humbled to be in the company of its past recipients. I’m looking forward to developing professionally and I am passionate about promoting more leadership roles for women in the entertainment industry”.
Applicants were required to submit a professional development proposal which outlined how the grant would assist them in reaching their full potential at the most senior levels of business. Rebecca’s winning proposal will see her attend the Women in Leadership program at the University of New South Wales Business School.
“The opportunity to attend such a prestigious program in Australia appealed to me professionally and personally”
said Rebecca
“The program offers a pathway to develop innovative leadership strategies and engagement in building organisational diversity with men and women” Rebecca added “ The locality of the school also means I can stay close to my two young children”.
Ms Natalie Miller, who was the inspiration for the establishment of the Fellowship and one of the members of this year’s independent judging panel, reflected on the announcement “I am thrilled Rebecca Hammond is the third recipient of the Natalie Miller Fellowship. I believe that apart from her leadership course she will also be a role model for females in the industry. She has great enthusiasm and is passionate to see women rise up the ladder in the corporate world”
“Our first recipient Rachel Okine said winning the Fellowship changed her life, Harriet Pike felt the same. Rebecca was a standout candidate so we will watch her journey with interest”
said Ms Miller
The Natalie Miller Fellowship is the only annual grant of its kind in Australia and is funded by organisations and individuals across several sections of the screen industry.
